Health Canada approves four new licensed cannabis producers


There were four new Licensed Producers approved last week. Freedom Cannabis of Alberta was approved for sale of medical and cultivation, Alberta Green Biotech of Alberta was approved for sale, processing and cultivation, Miracle Valley Medicinal Alternatives in B.C. was approved for processing and cultivation and Robinson’s Cannabis of Nova Scotia was approved for processing and cultivation.


This brings the total number of licenses issued to 168 and over 40 public companies are LPs or own an interest in one or more LPs. Licensed producers by province are Ontario (78 or 46%), British Columbia (38 or 23%), Quebec (14 or 8%), Alberta (13 or 8%), Nova Scotia (7 or 4%), Saskatchewan (5 or 3%), New Brunswick (4 or 2%), Manitoba (2 or 1%), Prince Edward Island (2 or 1%) and Newfoundland and Labrador (1 or 1%). Percent totals may not add up to 100% due to rounding.
