BROCHSTEIN: Canadian Cannabis Company Revenue Tracker

One of the services I find most useful is Alan Brochstein’s ‘Public Cannabis Company Revenue Tracker’ published in New Cannabis Ventures. The latest edition reports revenue as at August 1, 2018. The listings are separated into companies filing in U.S. and Canadian currency. In this edition, MedReleaf was removed as the takeover by Aurora Cannabis closed. Tilray commenced trading and although it operates in Canada, it reports in U.S. dollars.

Here is the Top 10 on the Canadian list:

Company (Stock Symbol) Quarter - Quarterly Sales - Year/Year Growth

  1. Canopy Growth (TSX: WEED) 03/31/18 - $22.8 million - 55%

  2. Aurora Cannabis (TSX: ACB) 03/31/18 - $16.1 million - 211%

  3. Aphria (TSX: APH) 05/31/18 - $12.1 million - 81%

  4. CannTrust (TSX: TRST) 03/31/18 - $7.8 million - 158%

  5. Isodiol Int’l (CSE: ISOL) 03/31/18 - $5.4 million - n/a

  6. Sunniva (CSE: SNN) 03/31/18 - $5.2 million - 118%

  7. MPX Bioceutical (CSE: MPX) 12/31/17 - $4.5 million - n/a

  8. Namaste Tech (TSXV: N) 05/31/18 - $4.1 million - 31%

  9. Organigram (TSXV: OGI) 05/31/18 - $3.7 million - 93%

  10. Friday Night (CSE: TGIF) 04/30/18 - $3.3 million - n/a

Canopy (1) and Aurora (2) will both report for the June 2018 quarter during August but their positions will probably not change. However, Aurora closed the acquisition of MedReleaf (formerly fourth on the list) in July so when the September results are posted, Aurora will likely squeeze Canopy into second place. Sunniva (6) should continue to show some growth in revenue but its larger gains will come in 2019 as they begin to sell their first crops in California. Namaste (8) has reported sharply slower growth in revenue and seems as likely to move down the list as up. Organigram is one of our favourites and looks positioned to move up rather than down (read full report here).
